An Icy Night Under the Milky Way

from 35.00

This was possibly the most technical image I had ever created. That is.. The most I have ever done behind the camera while out in the field. In order to take this shot I had to have enough exposure time to get the foreground bright in the pitch black night. So I had to do a 3 minute exposure for the foreground! Nut not just one. I was using an f2.8 lens at 14mm, so the dept of field was razor thin. So I had to focus stack 12 3 minute exposures for the foreground! Then I had to take a tracked exposure for the sky. If you ever want to test out how many profanities you can scream out in a minute, try to align a tracker when it is 15 degrees out. I do not recommend it.

So this is a shot that took about 2 hours to complete. 40 minutes of total exposure time and a couple hours in Photoshop blending it all. Very hard work, but the end result was worth it!
